A call on member societies to take action to end postpartum haemorrhage


Yesterday marked World Postpartum Haemorrhage Day and one year since the launch of the WHO-FIGO-ICM consolidated guidelines for preventing, diagnosing and treating postpartum haemorrhage (PPH). 

FIGO is urging member societies to use their leadership, networks, clinical expertise and influence to help end preventable deaths from PPH.

Voices from the frontline of safe abortion care


Last month for International Safe Abortion Day, FIGO spotlighted voices from across our global community.

Frontline clinicians shared one challenge to safe abortion access in their country, and one solution that gives them hope.

Advancing sexual and reproductive health through curriculum reform 


As phase 2 of the Collaborate for Women: Abortion and Contraception Care Together (C4W ACCT) initiative draws to a close, the five participating national OBGYN societies reflect on the progress achieved, the lessons learned and the crucial role professional societies play in advancing curriculum reform and improving Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services.

New FIGO statement on emergency contraception


The FIGO Committee on Contraception has published an evidence-based review in the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, covering the current landscape of emergency contraception (EC).

The paper examines mechanisms of action, safety profiles, use with repeated dosing and the key barriers to implementation worldwide.

FIGO and the Chien-Tien Hsu fellowship opportunity


FIGO and the Chien-Tien Hsu Research Foundation are partnering once again to offer a travel Fellowship to enable two successful applicants to attend a placement at a centre of excellence in gynaecologic oncology in Montréal (26 to 30 October 2027). They will also receive complimentary entry to the XXVI FIGO World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Each successful applicant will be awarded a grant of US$5,000 to cover travel, accommodation and daily expenses.
