FIGO webinar on global strategies to address female genital mutilation

On 6 February, we will bring together prominent researchers and advocates to discuss global strategies for eliminating female genital mutilation (FGM). The FIGO Committee on Childbirth and Postpartum Haemorrhage has published a ground-breaking standardised protocol to support and facilitate obstetricians and gynaecologists to perform complex caesarean sections safely.

Understanding global impact of AUB classification systems

A new special article published in the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (IJGO) presents the findings of a global survey on the implementation of FIGO's abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) systems. Led by members of FIGO's Committee on Menstrual Disorders and Related Health Impacts (MDRHI), the survey gathered responses from more than 1,000 obstetrics and gynaecology professionals across 65 countries.

Nominations process for new members to join FIGO Committees to open soon

The call for nominations to join FIGO Committees will open in the coming months. Member societies will be invited to submit nominations via an online platform which will remain open for four weeks. Societies will need to provide contact details of their nominated representatives alongside a copy of their CV and a personal statement outlining their suitability and how they can contribute to furthering our work.

Survey exploring healthcare professionals’ perspectives on LARC removal

Take part in a global survey designed to understand family planning providers’ experiences with removal of long-acting, reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods which include intrauterine devices (IUDs or coils) and subdermal implants. This short survey is available in English, Spanish, French and Kiswahili.

The World Health Organization has recently published an implementation story to shine a light on the success of the FIGO Self-Management of Abortion Project in Zambia. The story illustrates the importance of adapting global guidelines to local contexts and real-world situations, sharing useful lessons learned and valuable insights for others aiming to implement similar efforts.
