Last month we marked the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula by interviewing Nigerian FIGO Fistula Fellow Dr Akinyosoye Ajiboye. He spoke about his journey into fistula surgery, the importance of specialised care and the systemic challenges that he faces.
The FIGO Fistula Surgery Training Initiative builds the capacities of local trainee fistula surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide treatment for women suffering from obstetric fistula in some of the world’s most underserved communities. Applications are now open for the 2027 cohort and close on 15 August 2026.
