Ending Female Genital Mutilation: a global call to action from FIGO
230 million women and girls are affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) worldwide, with 4.4 million at risk in 2025 alone. FIGO condemns FGM in all forms and calls for unified action to prevent FGM and to ensure that survivors receive respectful, evidence-based and holistic care.
A milestone for the FIGO Fistula Surgery Training Initiative
The FIGO Fistula Surgery Training Initiative (FSTI) is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 25,000 obstetric fistula repairs performed by a dedicated network of FIGO Fellows, which has resulted in thousands of women being given the chance to heal and an improved quality of life.
In collaboration with Laerdal Global Health, we are delighted to share an exclusive opportunity for FIGO member societies in countries with high rates of maternal mortality. You can apply for a free birthing simulator and other educational materials to help strengthen maternal and newborn health training. Applications close on 30 November 2025.
